It started in Downtown Dallas. My mother was taking me on a trip to celebrate something. We didn't know where to go, but she told me she could find someone who would. We walk across a crowded room full of people in business suits. I am greeted--hugged--by Denise, a woman I have never seen or meet before. While my mother and Denise talk, I am almost hit with a rolling gate that two men are pushing. One apologizes to me and chastises the other for being reckless. My mother comes back and tells me we are going to the zoo. There, we will find a huge globe that we can look at and decide where we want to go.
...
It is beautiful and frightening at the same time. The sky is a vibrant orangish-pink, with streaks on blue and purple clouds. There is no earth, land, ground, anything to stand on. You can tell that whatever is currently under you is solid, but each new step comes with a risk. The whales swim right by you, but not in water, in the air.
